My four years of college life came to an end in June this year. Coming to Taiwan has been a very unforgettable experience for me. I am also grateful to all the teachers, assistants and classmates who have helped me. In terms of grades or seniors, my experience does not have much reference value: I transferred to Tunghai University in my junior year; my grades are not good, and I am not ranked first in every class or what the teacher says. An outstanding and hard-working student; I am not a person who is enthusiastic about club activities. Even so, I still hope to be able to give a little help to my junior students.
One of the great benefits of studying in Taiwan is that you can transfer to a more ideal school. Before coming to Taiwan, I had heard about Tunghai University. After coming to Taiwan, I learned more about Tunghai University’s faculty and teaching resources. After that, I became more determined to transfer to another school. But the thing I said to myself the most when I was a junior in college was: You have to be responsible for the decisions you make. Because of the gap in credit exemption and curriculum between schools, I needed to take a lot of courses in the accounting department and prepare for the IELTS exam. This made me feel inadequate for a long time. I also regretted my decision to transfer because of the I feel anxious and self-doubt due to bad grades and endless English memorization. After a period of time, I realized that I needed to adjust my mentality: I chose not to compare myself with others, but only asked myself to be a little better than yesterday every day, even if I had to understand a few more accounting exercises or take one more set of English tests. I have also found a learning method that suits me through various setbacks. There are many good learning methods, but I think the one that suits me is more important than the good method. Although my grades in my junior year were not very high, I successfully completed most of the courses. In my senior year, I have more time to choose electives and general courses that interest me. Some courses may not be particularly "easy", but you can learn more through various exams and reports. At the same time, the Department of Accounting also offers many courses. Taking other courses has helped me better understand the courses that I am good at and like. Donghai provides many ways to learn language, including English teaching, second-level electives, etc. Several classmates around me did not continue their studies after passing the graduation threshold, and later missed some further education or other opportunities. So never give up on language learning, it may one day become your advantage.
When I was a sophomore, I decided to apply for graduate school in Hong Kong. The reputation and recognition of universities in Taiwan are relatively high, which also gives me more confidence. Because my grades fluctuated greatly during school, and after evaluating my abilities and experience, I chose to use an agency to help me apply to study abroad. I am very grateful to Director Xiufeng and Teacher Zhengren for helping me write letters of recommendation. In February this year, I waited for notices of three professional written examinations and interviews. Before the written test and interview, you can search the Internet for experiences shared by previous classmates and prepare some more general questions. If it is an online interview, you must conduct an online test before the interview. From the time I applied in October last year to when I finally received the admission notice in March, I felt anxious as people shared their admission notices online and saw people around me receiving the good news. But when I finally received the email from the school, I felt anxious. I feel like all the waiting was worth it.
Although not all efforts will be fruitful, if you persist in working hard, you will always be closer to your goals. I wish you all success in your studies, a bright future, and that you can shine in your fields of expertise in the future.
